This device is intended to be used with the open-source Wireshark program, or a similar program. It duplicates the data packets from the link to an ethernet port and/or a USB port and is a simple plug-and-play device.

The Gen2 SharkTapBYP uses ‘carbon copy’ copper repeater technology, which has minimal impact on a monitored network. The carbon copies of bidirectional data are gathered onto a single wired or USB Test Access Port (TAP).
It also features Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) pass-through, power-fail bypass, 200-400mA current, and a non-conductive plastic cover. Additionally, it has auto cross-over for all ports. A USB3 cable is included with the device.
The SharkTapBYP is ideal for permanent and embedded installations because of its carbon copy, low power usage, and power-fail bypass capabilities.
