The Technicolor TC8717T Wi-Fi Cable Modem Gateway is a reliable and cost-effective solution for seamless home networking. It allows users to create a customized network to share a single high-speed connection using wired or wireless connectivity. The Technicolor TC8717T combines the functionality of a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem, four-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with advanced firewall, and a dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi access point in an all-in-one sleek package.

It is designed for high-bandwidth multimedia services and enables the delivery of innovative ultra-broadband data. The router is approved for use with Time Warner Cable/Spectrum and other major US cable providers and supports internet download speeds up to 343 Mbps. Additionally, the DOCSIS 3.0 modem is backwards compatible with DOCSIS 2.0 and 1.0.

The integrated IEEE 802.11n 2.4 GHz 3×3 and IEEE 802.11ac 5 GHz 3×3 wireless access points optimize high-speed video and data transfer wirelessly. Each access point contains multiple wireless transmitters and receivers, making it capable of handling multiple data streams while increasing the wireless transmission rate and data reliability.

The Technicolor TC8717T includes a digital quick install guide, power cable, and Ethernet cable. It has four Ethernet ports, two phone ports, and two USB ports. However, it is not compatible with Comcast Xfinity. Moreover, the router has a battery backup capability that automatically switches to the integrated rechargeable battery in case of a power outage (batteries sold separately).
