It highlights the significance of multi tenancy, which is the method of consolidating various customers onto a small number of servers, in reducing operational costs. The book mainly deals with multi tenancy on the database level by focusing on in-memory column databases, which are the backbone of many new enterprise applications. Two fundamental issues must be tackled for multi-tenancy implementation, namely workload modeling and data placement.
