The Electric Quilt 8 (EQ8) Quilt Design Software features a user-friendly interface and extensive library of over 6,000 blocks, enabling you to design unique and one-of-a-kind quilts!

With a fresh and modern look, EQ8 comprises more than 40 new and improved features, including thousands of block designs and fabric options. Whether you want to use an existing layout from the library, select a pre-designed Quick Quilt project, or design your layout from scratch, EQ8 has all the tools you need to create beautiful quilts.

Here are the ways that EQ8 can help you:

Design quilts at any size – Select a layout from the library or create your own from scratch. EQ8 gives you complete control.
Draw any block pattern – Use the full drawing capabilities and import photos or sketches to trace patterns. Alternatively, select from over 6,000 pre-drawn designs from the Block Library.
Scan and import fabric – Scan or take a picture of your fabric, then use EQ8’s tools to straighten and crop the image. Alternatively, use the Fabric Library that comes pre-loaded with over 6,200 fabrics from top manufacturers!
Calculate yardage – Get precise yardage estimates customized to your quilt and fabric selection, even for borders. EQ8 adjusts yardage automatically when you make changes to your quilt.
Print patterns – EQ8 generates patterns with the sizes you defined – complete with seam allowance, if applicable. Print templates, rotary cutting charts, foundation patterns, and pictures of your blocks and quilts.
Export images – EQ8 exports high-resolution images ready for print publications or social media. Connect EQ8 to your Facebook account for easy sharing of your designs.

The EQ8 package includes a software download license that allows you to download and install the software from ElectricQuilt.com. During the claim process, you can choose between the Mac or PC version. EQ8 is not compatible with Chromebooks or devices running Android or iOS.

To run EQ8 on both platforms, you must purchase the EQ8 Migration Kit for the installation files.

EQ8 requires Windows 10, 8.1, or 7 with Service Pack 1; or macOS Catalina (10.15), Mojave (10.14), High Sierra (10.13), Sierra (10.12), El Capitan (10.11), and Yosemite (10.10). Internet access is required for downloading, activating, periodic validation, and access to support materials. EQ8 allows unlimited installations on up to two computers at a time, and activations can be transferred between computers easily.

The recommended screen resolution is at least 1280 x 1024, but EQ8 works with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768. Hard disk space of 850 MB is required for installation.
