The Dualcomm ETAP-1000 is a network tap designed for Fast Ethernet copper links that require packet traffic flow monitoring without any delay or latency disruption. This device guarantees zero packet delay which makes it ideally suited for EtherCAT and PROFINET networks. Its gigabit monitor port enables full line-rate monitoring without losing any packet even when running at 100Mbps in both directions, meaning aggregated traffic throughput of 200Mbps. The ETAP-1000 Tap supports power Failsafe Bypass to keep the link connectivity uninterrupted even if the device loses power, making it suitable for deployment in critical paths within the network. When one link goes down, the other also goes down automatically, making it a desirable feature for high availability deployment since it reduces the time for activating a redundant link path. It is compatible with Power over Ethernet (PoE) so that PoE in-line power isn’t blocked, making it useful for monitoring or capturing data traffic of a PoE Ethernet link. Users can conveniently power the ETAP-1000 Tap from a computer’s USB port and it has a built-in inrush current limiting circuit to prevent possible damages or disturbances from an instantaneous current surge.
